No news is good news.

March 5th, 2010

It’s been awhile since we posted an update, but rest assured that we are working hard behind the scenes and plan on bringing you lots of new music soon. Our long delayed new LP, Imaginary Songs & Aluminum Hits is now complete and will be landing this Summer. We are also almost finished with the follow up album which will be our first with new drummer Jeff. In addition to that, plans are afoot for a new EP planned for release on the fledgling local label Stress Carrier and there are even plans afoot for a small tour this Fall, if all goes well. So please stay tuned…

New Drummer

April 27th, 2009

We are pleased to announce that Jeff Gilotti of The Marshmallow Staircase will be taking over drumming duties for Kid Icarus. In order to help us commemorate the occassion here is a free mp3 of a redux of a track called “Laughing Skeletons” featuring the new lineup. Enjoy!

“More Laughing Skeletons”

Before Kid Icarus there was Suetta.

April 24th, 2009

Before Eric formed Kid Icarus, he spent his teenage years in a group called Suetta along with longtime K.I. collaborator & bassist Ted Baird. Summersteps Records has just released “Olympic Stain (1994-1996)” an album of the best of the group’s demos and home recordings committed to tape back in the mid-90s. The songs are lost noisy indie rock chestnuts that recall the sound of their era’s peers and influences while forging a shaky, endearing and unique sound of their own. The album will be available in a very limited hand-numbered edition of 100 copies and features 4 different covers each representing one of the members of the band. (Top L to R; Eric and Ted & Bottom L to R; Kenny and Jason)

Summersteps Records is accepting orders now. (Please indicate which band members’ cover you would prefer. If not, one will be randomly selected for you.) There’s also a cassette version for those who really want to get the full mid-90s nostalgia blast.

This will be a rare full band acoustic set in a real absinthe bar. There will be lots of new tracks and few reworked chestnuts from the vast icarus catalog.

Not new news, but we did happen to come across this link to a solo acoustic performance on the Phoning It In radio program. It offers some skeletal versions of some of the songs that will be featured on our upcoming LP, Imaginary Songs & Aluminum Hits which is due out this spring. Enjoy!

New split 7″ w/ Das Black Milk.

January 19th, 2009

We just released a split 7″ with our good buddies Das Black Milk. Our half of the single features the track “Kid Icarus”. It was the first track ever written for the Kid Icarus project back in 1996. The single version was tracked during the recording sessions for our last album The Metal West. This is the first time the song has been commercially available in any form. The records were pressed on randomly colored marble swirled vinyl. Copies can be purchased below for $5 postage paid.

Finally, a news update!

January 19th, 2009

Hello everyone, we give our apologies. We must have slipped into some kind of wormhole. It’s now 2009 and I think it’s been a few years since we’ve updated this site. That is about to change with the introduction of our new news blog. We will try to keep you more up to date on the happenings with the band and catch you up on what you may have missed in the last year or so. In the meantime, you can access the olde news section here.

Love,
Kid Icarus
