Q: Hey aren't you a) a video game?, b) a pop punk band from NC? c) a pub rock band from Ireland? d) a techno DJ? e) some hardcore band who contributed a song called "burn out", to a comp about the "ulitimate core-uption"? A: Well this is the most quizzling question. Here's the best explanation we can give. We are none of the above. Kid Icarus is an indie rock recording entity, sometimes a solo performer or band, and songwriting vehicle for Eric Schlittler based in Northeastern PA. However, we did get the moniker from an old NES game. Eric began releasing music as Kid Icarus in 1996, long before any of these other folks. To tell you the truth, I'm not even sure if some of these guys even exist anymore, but we figured it was time to end the confusion. Meaning, this is the real deal, the original and true Kid Icarus music project!!
Q: Who or What are some of Kid Icarus biggest influences? A: All kinds of stuff. Some of our biggest musical influences/inspirations are The Beatles, Elvis Costello, Robyn Hitchcock, Syd Barrett, Sonic Youth, The Velvet Underground, Plush, The Mountain Goats, Smog, David Bowie, Jandek, Roky Erickson, Guided By Voices, Nick Drake, Chris Knox, Big Star, The Bee Gees (pre-disco), Scott Walker, Neutral Milk Hotel, Neil Young, The Beach Boys, Beefheart, Zappa, T-Rex, Tom Waits, Neu, Love/Arthur Lee, The Monks, Charlie Patton, Bob Dylan, The Zombies, and about a million others. We also love the films of David Lynch, Timothy Carey, and Rudy Ray Moore!
Q: Who exactly is Kid Icarus personell wise? A: That changes all the time. Eric Schlittler is the constant. Usually whoever is willing to stop by and record ends up on an album or as part of a live show. Right now there is an official band consisting of Ted Baird (bass), Justin Marchegiani (lead guiar) and Thad Moyer on drums.
Q: I run a record label, can I put out a Kid Icarus record? A: Yes! Right now, Kid Icarus has numerous projects and songs in the can. Kid Icarus' main label, Summersteps Records, has not the budget or time to put out all of it. So, if you're interested please e-mail icarusreleases@kid-icarus.com for more info.
Q: I'd like Kid Icarus to play a show I'm putting together? A: Please direct all booking inquiries to: booking@kid-icarus.com
