Kid Icarus and the Angel Land Demos Catalog # Sum 001
Released:  Fall 1996  Label:  Summersteps  Format:  Cassette
Status:  Out of Print

Kid Icarus' first release recorded after the demise of Eric's first group Suetta.  It was mostly assembled on handheld tape recorders and boom boxes.  Some tracks were engineered by an anonymous friend of a friend who fled the make shift recording studio for unknown reasons. Unfortunately, most of the cassette has not withstood the test of time,.

The tape has a great feeling of sadness and isolation to it for the most part.  Through all of the tape hiss, one can hear an audible longing for better times.
Kid Icarus - Try This At Home/ Summer 1998 (a.k.a The Cucumer Album)
Catalog # Sum 004-004.5
Released: 1997-1998    Label: Summersteps
Format: Cassette/CD-R
Status:  Out of Print

Actually two separate releases, but both share a similar catalog number.  These releases chronicled the growth of Kid Icarus as a home taper and songwriter.
Try This At Home was recorded mostly on a two track reel to reel that Eric had acquired at a local radio station.  The problem was that the reel to reel had sync up problems and caused the tape to sound out of time for most of the songs.  Enlisting the help of some friends, Eric re-recorded most of tracks into tape decks run through Radio Shack stero mixers and others at the half-functioning studios of local college station, WUSR, after the studios had closed down for the night.
      These sessions produced the
Summer 1998 cassette.  Because Eric felt that the cassette was not entirely a new product,  he asked Summersteps to number the release 4.5.  Although the fidelity was low, it was the best Icarus album yet.  The album featured song fragments spliced between beds of found sounds, droney instrumentals, and whispered late night confessionals into handheld tape recorders. Although currently out of print, Summersteps is eventually planning some sort of  re-issue of these two releases.  Perhaps, into a cohesive whole, including the best performances from each album.
