Maps of the Saints
Be My Echo
Naked In The Afternoon - A Tribute to Jandek
Maps Of The Saints is Icarus' first fully formed statement. Originally released as a handmade cassette and re-issued as an official release by Summersteps in 2003, Maps is an album of loss and closure. With a crisp lo-fi sheen that synthesizes the influences of 60s pop, lo-fi experimentalism and flourishes of psychdedelia, the Kid's sympathy with such modern underground acts and indoor artists such as Jandek, Chris Knox, Brother JT, The Mountain Goats, Robyn Hitchcock, (SMOG), Jeff Magnum and Robert Pollard are evident while retaining an identity all it's own. Released 1999; reissued 2003 Label : Summersteps Catalog # SUM 008
Be My Echo is the sound of Kid Icarus experimenting, and expanding. The CD features excursions into pop, garage, folk and psychedelia. It is truly a massive feat and features a double album's worth of material. Icarus' biggest inspirations for this CD were the sounds of Robyn Hitchcock, George Harrison 1st and 2nd LPs, The Velvet Undergound's 3rd self titled effort, and Arthur Lee's Love. The CD points the way in several different directions spreads it's tentacles all over the place. Released: 2002 Label: Summersteps Catalog # SUM 0016
This split ep, released on the fledgling Prison Jazz label, showcases a darker sound. The Kid Icarus side of the EP features two new originals, "Following Your Divorce" and "Talkin' Observation Deck Blues". It also features a redux of "Meet Me On Via Roma" from Be My Echo. Released: 2003 Label: Prison Jazz Catalog # PRI 001
Kid Icarus contributed a dark, mournful version of the Jandek song,"She Fell Down" on this tribute CD. Released: 2000 Label: Summersteps Catalog # SUM 0010

The Metal West
| The Metal West is a semi-concept album that explores the lives of the inhabitants of a long dead and half real place. The Metal West is a world populated by murderers, demons, addicts, angels, ex-cons, mathmeticians, senior citizens, florists, govenors and a few beekeepers. The album features clean hi-fi recording and a full band sound (courtesy of Original Sin and producer extrodinare, Dan McKinney), while maintining the charm and intimacy of the lo-fi sound of earlier efforts.
Released 2005 Label: Summersteps Catalog # SUM 0018 |
